Editorial policy

Editorial policy: how we produce and correct material

The editorial policy is the set of rules the team lives by: where content comes from, how commerce is kept separate, what happens when we make a mistake and when material counts as out of date.

How material is produced

STAGE 01Gathering the facts

Primary sources: platform websites, regulator filings, contract specifications, terminal documentation. Every fact is recorded together with a link and a date.

a source is mandatory
STAGE 02Calculations

Numerical claims are checked with a calculation the reader can reproduce. Where the result depends on assumptions, those assumptions are stated in the text.

reproducibility
STAGE 03Conflict-of-interest check

Material is not adjusted to suit affiliate relationships. Where a platform runs an affiliate programme, we disclose it and the conclusions stay the same.

separation
STAGE 04Publication and verification date

Each page carries the date the data was checked. Material covering fast-changing terms is reviewed on a shorter cycle.

Advertising and editorial

Affiliate links do not affect what goes into round-ups, the order of the catalogue or the conclusions of reviews. We do not sell top placements, do not publish paid reviews disguised as editorial and do not clear our texts with platforms.

If material is produced with outside involvement, that is stated in the material itself, not in small print at the bottom. As of today there is no such material on the site.

Mistakes and updates

what we doWe correct with a noteA material error is corrected, and a line at the bottom of the article states exactly what was changed and when.
what we do not doWe do not rewrite quietlyWe do not delete inconvenient facts or swap text retroactively without noting the change.
cadenceScheduled reviewPlatform terms and rates quarterly; tax and legal status whenever they change; mechanics and metrics once a year.
how to tell usFeedbackYou can report an inaccuracy through the contacts page, naming the page and the source that contradicts it.

Frequently asked questions

How do you verify data?

We take terms from primary sources — the platform's own site and its documents — recompute every figure and state the verification date on the page.

What if you have made a mistake?

Write to us through the contact form, naming the page and the disputed figure. We reconcile it against the primary source, correct the text and the related calculations, and update the verification date.

Do you publish commissioned material?

No. Reviews are not for sale: a commissioned review stops doing its job. Our funding is disclosed on the affiliate links page.

Why is the material not signed by individuals?

Every text goes through calculation and a check by a second person, so responsibility here is editorial. Who checks and how is described on the about page.

What do you do with outdated data?

We rewrite it or flag it, but we do not delete it silently: the reader should see that the material changed and when.

Do you use AI in preparing material?

Tools are used at technical stages — proofreading and page assembly. The substance, the calculations and the conclusions are checked by a person, and the editorial team is answerable for them.
