Risk disclosure

Risk disclosure: forex copy trading involves high-risk operations. This section describes what exactly you can lose and which risks are removed neither by your choice of lead trader nor by subscription settings.

Risk warning: what you can lose

The essentials. Trading on the currency market using leverage carries the risk of losing part or all of the funds invested. Copying someone else's trades does not reduce that risk: the lead trader's loss becomes your loss in full and, as a rule, larger — because of execution latency, your broker's spread and the copying fee.

market riskLoss of your depositA strategy stops working when the market regime changes. A losing streak that is perfectly normal for the strategy will wipe out a subscriber's account if the size is wrong.
leader riskThe actions of an outsiderThe leader changes style, starts averaging into losses or stops trading. You do not control their decisions and learn about a trade after it opens.
technical riskLatency and slippageThe order fills at a price different from the leader's. In a fast market the gap runs to dozens of pips in either direction.
counterparty riskThe platform and the brokerChanged terms, delayed withdrawals, a blocked account, a service leaving the market. A licence reduces this risk but does not eliminate it.

What this site does not do

  • It is not investment advice. The material is for information only.
  • It does not guarantee returns. No calculation on this site is a forecast: every figure in the calculators is illustrative and serves to explain the mechanics.
  • It does not offer managed account services, does not sell signals and does not accept funds.
  • It is no substitute for advice from a licensed tax or legal professional.

Past results do not guarantee future returns. In deciding to copy, you act on your own and at your own risk. Do not use borrowed money for copying, or sums whose loss would seriously hurt your finances.

Frequently asked questions

Can you lose money in copy trading?

Yes, and that is the main scenario to be ready for. Copying does not reduce market risk — it merely hands trading decisions to another person.

Does copying guarantee income?

No. No past result guarantees a future one, and any promise of guaranteed returns in forex trading is a reason not to deal with whoever is making it.

Can you lose more than you deposited?

On accounts with negative balance protection, no. Without such protection a debt to the broker is theoretically possible, so it is worth checking that it exists before you fund the account.

Is the content of this site investment advice?

No. The material is informational, the calculations are illustrative and show mechanics rather than predicting a result. The decision and the responsibility remain with the reader.

What can you do to reduce risk?

Cap the share of the deposit in any one subscription, choose lead traders by drawdown rather than by return, and set in advance the boundary at which you switch off.

Is copy trading suitable for your last savings?

No. For money you cannot afford to lose, forex in any form is unsuitable — neither trading yourself nor copying someone else.
